Lynda Chima Aririguzo, MD, MPH

SECRETARY

Dr. Aririguzo is a general pediatrician and medical director of the GROW Clinic, a multidisciplinary center for young children with poor weight gain. Although many things can contribute to poor weight gain in young children, the GROW Clinic may be particularly beneficial for families experiencing socioeconomic stressors, feeding difficulties or challenging behaviors related to eating.

Dr. Aririguzo also works with Texas Children’s Mobile Clinic program, which includes the SuperKids Mobile Clinic and the Ronald McDonald CareMobile. These clinics are funded by Texas Children’s Hospital/Texas Children’s Pediatrics with help from philanthropic donations from the community. The program has two important goals — to provide health care in the form of immunizations, regular check-ups and urgent care visits to uninsured or underinsured children, and to provide patient families access to both insurance and a medical home.

HERMAN MOTEN

At the moment of my conversion to Jesus Christ He placed a burden on my heart for those who looked like me because of the struggles experienced while growing up (single family homes, poverty, crime, drugs, racism, etc.). My deepest desire is to share the same grace and mercy that I found in Him with others that sets man free from the shackles of sin that hold us captive.

While seeking a career in the health care field, my hunger to know and understand God’s Word led me to take time out of my studies, to attend a Bible College in Atlanta, Ga. One year of intended study turned into 4 years. Shortly after receiving my degree in Biblical studies, I was recruited by a Home Mission organization to begin a ministry to the inner city of the greater Tampa Bay area. I then relocated to sunny Florida with our 4 children and served as a faith missionary for 20 years as a Church planter and established a para-church organization known as the Christian Resource Center. Through this organization we set up and worked with other ministries and churches through a Statewide Prison ministry, Children’s bible studies in housing projects and neighborhood bible clubs in homes, food banks, thrift store, a training center that provided leadership training for Pastors and Church leaders.

After leaving my home in Houston for 30 years I returned home to become primary care giver for my then aging mother. She was struggling with dementia and other health issues associated with geriatrics. While seeking a source of ministry and employment, I was introduced to a Chaplaincy program called Clinical Pastoral Education. It is a graduate program designed to provide and train Chaplains in the medical setting. I was accepted as a resident. Oddly enough, it was at the same cancer hospital where I watched my father die 30 years before. After completing my residency, I was employed by M.D. Anderson as a Chaplain. As my mother’s health took a downward spiral, we had to plan for end-of-life care for her.  My family and I decided on hospice care and the agency we chose to provide that service needed a Chaplain. I was hired at the same time that my mother was enrolled in their Hospice service. I now say that “Mother and I joined Hospice together.” She soon departed this life with comfort and dignity, but in so many ways she chose a new path and career for me, her baby boy. A confirmation that can come only from our Creator God.

My life with Christ started and continues with the burden of serving others. While in the military during the Viet Nam war I was a combat trained Hospital Corpsman (Medic). Throughout my career as a missionary Church planter and community advocate for health care and I utilize means for bringing others to the greatest need in their lives I have chosen to use the “felt need” concept, a model observed in the ministry of Jesus Christ, to bring others to saving knowledge of God. (w)Holistically, taking the Whole gospel to the whole world, one person at a time.
